Here is a very nice truck that has been repainted but is otherwise in original patina. I have had it since 2011. All original metal and rust free. I bought the truck from a GMC dealer in Missouri. He has spent years buying up farm trucks, and gets one fixed up occasionally to sell. This one came from Nebraska and had no body rust except one small spot on the ps floor, which he repaired with new metal and is indistinguishable from the rest of the floor. Paint is John Deere green, and shines like new.I believe the paint is urethane. I have the color formula. He replaced the windshields, windshield rubber, gas tank, and master cylinder,With guidance and new parts I made these upgrades to make the truck more driveable on modern roads:Electronic ignition, two-bbl carb,12 volt conversion, and a rebuilt T-5 transmission in place of the non-synchro original. The original shifter was welded to the linkage on the new transmission, and is in about the same spot on the floor. It was a seamless transition. The old girl starts and runs better than new, and with the 5 speed trans can keep up with traffic and is easy to drive. I have the original carb and other parts that were replaced.Has rare "smash bar" rear bumper and reinforced back fenders, an aftermarket option in 53. This not only looks good, but is very stout and keeps the back fenders from flapping around. Paint is mostly good and from 10 feet away looks perfect. Tailgate needs repaint and rear ds fender has some paint issues. Wood bed in good shape. Gages all work. I added modern shoulder seat belts on each side and a lap belt in the middle of the bench. The paint really pops and is very shiny, and the wheel/tire combo and stance are perfect. You will meet a lot of new friends driving this one. This is not a hot rod or a trailer queen. It is a nice old driver with modern upgrades and 5-window cab. You will love it!The T-5 transmission ratios keep the 228 6cylinder engine in its power band under normal driving conditions. Acceleration is steady, and smooth, and 5th gear is overdrive, which can get the truck up to highway speed without trouble. . The 2 barrel carburetor upgrade gives it a secondary if more power is needed during hard acceleration. These changes, along with the electronic ignition, give this truck better performance than a stock 1/2 ton, plus you have bigger brakes, pressure-oiled engine, and larger weight capacity. The Coker radial tires were about $250.00 each, and give the truck the look of bias tires with better handling. I was originally concerned about the split rims, but any pro tire shop can mount tires on these. I've been driving it for 8 years with zero issues with any of the red flags that get thrown up about these items. There's enough power to drive a Vintage Air unit, and enough room to get it easily under the hood. I prefer the hood vents blowing what's left of my hair, but A/C is nice. Who wants another slammed pickup street rod? This is a real truck, for the select few willing to break from the herd.
